A sculpture for Melling architects. A pursuit to inject some whimsy into the wellingtonalleyways through material exploration and build process. This project is the 2nd of three bananas I have built. I started bymaking card models 1:1 and drew my own net, this removed any quirk or humanityto the banana and so instead I took a trip to the super market and picked out a nice-looking banana. I pealed and traced its outline. Printing out an enlarged pattern before welding it back together. This was by no means a straightforwardassembly and heavily relies upon gently hydroforming at the end to push out thecurves and bring it back to where the peals want to be.
This banana was then squared with steel bar and bolting plates, electro-galvanized and stuck to the Melling Architecture office wall for all who walk Egmont Street to enjoy.
